Adwords Manifesto
Adwords Manifesto is a product that has some good things going for it, but also has some bad things. For one thing, the guide is poorly written for a professional guide on Adwords. It is quite repetitive, and some of the statements are generalizations spoken as ultimate truths. For instance, the ebook insists that long tail keywords don't work on Adwords (other than in the content network). Huh? Tell that to my Adwords account where I get 5 cents a click on long tails and great returns!
With that out of the way, there are some good qualities to the book. It covers great tools to use that other guides don't go into extensively. For example, Spyfu and Google's own keyword tool are discussed in use, with full screenshots to help you make the best possible use of them. If you've never used Spyfu for your PPC marketing, you may want to grab this guide because it gives some good techniques for using it.
You'll also learn how to choose the right keywords, with both paid and free tools. This section is vital, and the author does a pretty good job of describing how to do it. I really liked the tips on setting up landing pages, and everyone is sure to get some useful information on doing so. Getting a good quality score is vital, so be sure to pay close attention here!
Another admirable section is how to fix a "broken" campaign. Campaigns do not always go as planned, and there are some good tips on what to do if that happens.
Even though the product has several good qualities, there are other books on the market that do a better job of detailing how to market with PPC on Google Adwords. If Spyfu and good landing page advice appeals to you, then you might be able to get past the writing and occasionally advice that makes you grimace. Otherwise, stick with tried and true books that people have loved and had success with for a long time now. Those who devour everything they can get their hands on related to Adwords will want to give this a read.
